"As a child I helped my parents in the garden, and to curb my enthusiasm I was given a small part of the garden, all mine. I bought seeds with my savings and gathered around all the plants that struck me. As I grew older, my interest shifted from from horticulture to flowers and then I went on to study design at the academy". So Andreas, master florist born in Zundert, the Dutch center for growing dahlias, explains the origin of his eccentric yet natural art. In his workshop in Amsterdam he creates botanical hybrids playing with shapes and colors, remodeling plants as if they were sculptures. He has been called Dr. Frankenstein of flowers: he devotes special attention to his ‘modified’ flowers. Look at how they have changed .... To whom asks him what it takes to learn the rules of this new profession, he simply replies that we must observe nature, how the elements are born, grow and live together … Anyone could do it (?!).
