Leonardo da Vinci - Louvre

Leonardo da Vinci’s celebrated masterpiece "The Virgin and Child with St. Anne" was finally exposed after undergoing a restoration in the laboratories of the Centre for Research and Restoration of Museums of France. The painting, which was at the center of an extraordinary controversy, is now on show for the first time with all the related technical and historical documents.

Some of this material dates back to 1501, when it was mentioned for the first time in a correspondence between Isabella d'Este and Leonardo da Vinci. There are also compositional sketches, preparatory drawings, studies of landscape and the cardboard from the National Gallery in London

Other works that have been influenced by this masterpiece are also part of the exhibition, to include paintings by Delacroix, Degas and Max Ernst.

Sole sponsor of the event, which will last until June 25, is the Salvatore Ferragamo.
