A new institution dedicated to photography was born recently in the heart of London: it’s the Positive View Foundation sponsored by Barclays which will address contemporary photography with a focus on youth reality.

Prince William support, this initiative linking public photography and social hardship, as did his mother Princess Diana.

The foundation doesn’t have official HQ for now, but it operates within the vast complex of Somerset House in the refurbished east wing.

The opening event will be the exhibition "Henri Cartier-Bresson: the legacy" that will open doors next November 2012. The exhibition will be an opportunity to see works of this historical photographer and the influence he had on new generations, so there will also be works from other popular artists of international photography.

The exhibition "Landmark: Fields of Change" related to environmental issues and landscaping will follow.

The foundation is also organising something on Italian soil: a three-day international symposium on photography will be held in May 2013 at the Castle of Todi.

The foundation is mainly intended to create momentum in order to give needy new generations a sense of proactiveness through the use of photography, as a practical and visual perception. An auction of the works will be held at Christie's in April to raise funds for developing these social projects.
