The other side of Afghanistan.

"Marios" is a brand for contemporaries and modernettes. Founders Mayo Loizou and Leszek Chmielewski,a Greek Cypriot and a Pole, began their quest for texture, form and design in 2001 in Japan. In 2005 they’ve opened a flagship store in Tokyo , but now they are based in Milan. Their main interest is to find a balance between aesthetics and functionality. They are frequently collaborating with a variety of artist and brands , in form other than fashion.
“NOWHERE” is the 2012 summer collection inspired by Kuba Dabrowski's Afghan landscape photographs.
The designers liked his vision of the country so different from what media show: beautiful landscapes seen from the window of a Black Hawk helicopter, a glimpse of everyday life in the outskirts of Kabul, a solitary man contemplating the lake.
The image as been printed on different fabrics like poplin and cotton jersey. They have attempted to design around each photo choosing the shape that suited it best.
