Tracey Emin's first solo exhibition at Turner Contemporary

Tracy Emin’s solo exhibition has just opened in the quiet town of Margate.
She has created a series of new works specifically for these spaces. The artist grew up in Margate, which has provided much inspiration for some of her best known works, thus bringing into play a social relation to her personal universe.
Exploring themes such as love, sensuality, with an added romantic vision, the exhibition includes new works consisting of paintings, drawings, watercolors and works with neon lights. Her works are permeated with an everyday charm to them and have a strong core message. The use of neon light makes the words stand out with an intended emotional impact, which can sometimes slip into a state of sensual perception.
The exhibition is well structured and its spaces are perfectly suited for the very strong works and strident aesthetic contrasts. The location, next to the waterfront, is just perfect with the sensual sea waves echoing erotic female curves.
This new museum, born from an idea of David Chipperfield, was inaugurated a year ago with the intention to stimulate the development of tourism and culture in the area. The museum has free admission and, during this time visitors, can also admire the sculpture "The Kiss" by Auguste Rodin.
