While in Europe we torment ourselves with artistic variations of political or technological visions, as proposed at the recent smoky Berlin Biennial or the muddled Kassel’s Documenta, in the southern hemisphere everyday reality is looked at from a different angle more peacefully, and perhaps more artistically, thanks to the curatorial initiative of Catherine de Zegher and Gerald McMaster who have named the new Biennale of Sydney "All our relations."

The vision is focused on the visual and emotional aspects, leaving the useless, fake and boring pseudo-philosophical/political speculations to specialized categories, thus steering clear of fake artistic endeavors.

100 artists, whose works achieve a significant art exhibition, are presented in five spaces. The result is that the right dimension of artwork becomes directly accessible and open to the articulate sensitivity of the public.

The size is kept humble by a simple arrangement that allows an enjoyable visit, with no added pressure.

Everyday life is manifested as the authentic and real action of human activity, total and common to all. A dimension where we live and we can identify and directly relate to. This way the artistic processes presented are real, not a fictional world but rather a common sphere of humanity.

The Biennale of Sydney, one of the oldest, will be ongoing until September 16 and it takes place at several venues namely the Art Gallery of New South Wales, Piers 2 and 3, the Museum of Contemporary Art, Cockatoo Island and Carriageworks.
