Georgios Karvelas

George Karvellas was born and brought up in Larissa. Originated by both Cretan roots- his mother-and Roumeli’s roots- his father-, he finally settled in Larissa, where graduated the Faculty of Religion of Aristoteleion University in Salonica.
His first professional steps go back in around 1990. He has studied hagiographic techniques and Frescos under the supervision of prominent monks in Hagion Oros –Holy Mountain ( Zenophon Monastery ) .
His fine artworks is full of the light and the colours of Greece, his inspirations- landscapes or portraits-purely Greek. Colours, style and tones radiate an intense feeling of freshness and strength through the prevalent elements of impressionism.
He is an ardent supporter of Tradition on the one hand and embracer of human labour and traditional handcrafts that tend to extinct, on the other. He is also an inspired woodcarver, creating amore personal style for portable paintings-icons
