The Answer is 42

So these guys are playing tonight at a
stone's throw from my place and I thought I'd pay them a tribute.
It is an American duo formed by Dan
Auerbach (guitar, vocals) and Patrick Carney (drums) both from 'middle of
nowhere', Ohio. Their genre is
garage-rock pretty much like The White Stripes. They have actually been around for 10 years but their huge commercial
breakthrough only came in 2010 with their sixth album Brothers and their latest
work El Camino is going strong. If you look at them they are the most unlikely popstars,
casually dressed totally normal guys in their thirties but they are now one of
the biggest bands of the moment. I love the fact they are so unassuming and
down to earth.
Here's Lonely Boy the lead single to their
latest album El Camino. The promotional music video for "Lonely Boy"
features The video, shot in a single
take, features actor/musician/part-time security guard Derrick T. Tuggle
dancing and lip-syncing to the song in the parking lot of a motel. It went
viral and garnered more than 400,000 views on YouTube within 24 hours.
According to Tuggle, who was cast as an extra, the video was originally
supposed to have six or seven other people appear, along with the Black Keys
who were set to hand the keys to their motel room to Tuggle. However, his
improvised dancing on the set inspired a change to the video. In any case it's
funny and the song seems 'to locate an imaginary button that makes grown adults
want to play air guitar and perform drum patterns on their knees'.
As a cherry on top, The Black Keys have
always made it a distinctive choice to have young and talented artists to
design posters for their gigs, here's a few examples.
By Nate Duval and Jon Smith
By Emek Black
By Kevin Tong (my favourite)

By Luke Drodz
By Brad Klausen
