Pretty cool canoe sculpture or Nancy Rubins' new work

It is called Monochrome for Paris and it is made of aluminum boats, kayaks and canoes to be precise. It's the new giant sculpture by fellow American artist Nancy Rubins and it is looking pretty damn cool, don't you agree?

WWJD Jack Early

Do you have $70,000 of disposable cash?

Then you could get your hands on WWJD by American artist Jack Early. He is getting quite a lot of attention at Frieze NY 2013 these days. You will find it at the Fergus McCaffrey's booth, you will hear it from a distance away actually.

For 70,000 bucks you get a crucifix (composed of light boxes) hung on a wall with the image of Christ–from the Broadway production Godspell. The room is painted light blue, and covered with plush clouds. Out of an iPod, hooked up to speakers, a soundtrack called “Hey Jesus” and composed by Jack Early himself plays loudly.

Hey Jesus

Will you make me lose my mind?

Jack Kerouac's back

There is a lot of talking recently about  old Jack with the On the Road movie coming out (not my favorite). I love Jack Kerouac, I grew up reading his books and dreaming of alcohol and sex fueled road trips and On the Road is one of my all times favorite books. If you guys are in London you can get the chance to see an absolute gem: the original typed manuscript at the British Library.

On the Road is one of the defining books of the Beat Generation.

Written over a period of three weeks in April 1951 in manic bursts of what Allen Ginsberg referred to as ‘spontaneous bop prosody’, Jack Kerouac typed the manuscript on rolls of tracing paper, which he taped together into a long scroll to avoid replacing paper at the end of the page and interrupting his creative flow.

The 120-foot-long scroll is in London for the first time. It will be on display in a specially-constructed case, alongside sound and printed materials from the British Library’s collection.

Image courtesy of Christie's New York. The manuscript is on loan from the collection of James S. Irsay © Estate of Anthony G. Sampatacacus and the Estate of Jan Kerouac
